UCL Fantasy 2026/27: Best Players, Predicted Points & Optimal Team
UCL Fantasy is UEFA's official Champions League fantasy game: a 15-player squad, a EUR 100m budget, and eight league-phase matchdays before the knockouts. TheFantasyTool gives you the data edge - model-predicted points (pP) for every player in the competition, an optimal-team calculator, predicted line-ups and odds-based fixture difficulty, all built on the same engine behind our FPL tools.
The Matchday 1 deadline is Tuesday 8 September 2026. Transfers are unlimited until then, so this is the one moment in the season when you can build the perfect squad from scratch - and the moment when predicted points are worth the most. After that you get two free transfers a matchday, and every decision has a cost.
Your UCL Fantasy toolkit
Every tool below runs on the same projection model: expected goals, expected assists, predicted minutes and clean-sheet probability from live match odds, converted into the Champions League scoring system so numbers are directly comparable between players.
- Best UCL Fantasy players ranked by predicted points for every matchday
- Optimal team calculator - the highest-scoring legal squad inside EUR 100m
- Predicted line-ups for all 36 league-phase clubs, so you never bench a starter
- Fixture difficulty from live match odds, not last season's colour chart
- Team planner to model transfers and captain choices before you commit them
- Ball-recovery and Player of the Match projections - the two scoring routes unique to UCL Fantasy
How UCL Fantasy scoring works
Goals are worth 4 points to a forward, 5 to a midfielder and 6 to a defender or goalkeeper. Assists are 3. Clean sheets pay 4 to goalkeepers and defenders and 1 to midfielders. Two scoring routes have no FPL equivalent and change how squads should be built: a point for every three balls recovered, and 3 points for the Player of the Match award.
Ball recoveries are the reason defensive midfielders and full-backs are far better value in UCL Fantasy than in FPL - a busy holding midfielder can bank 2-3 points a match before he touches a goal or an assist. Our player projections model recoveries explicitly rather than treating them as noise.
- Appearance: 1 point under 60 minutes, 2 points for 60 or more
- Goals: forward 4, midfielder 5, defender 6, goalkeeper 6 (+1 from outside the box)
- Assists: 3 - Clean sheets: 4 for GK and DEF, 1 for MID
- 1 point per 3 balls recovered - 1 point per 3 saves
- Player of the Match: 3 - Penalty won: 2 - Penalty saved: 5
- Deductions: yellow -1, red -3, own goal -2, penalty missed -2, and -1 per 2 goals conceded
Squad rules, budget and transfers
Your squad is 2 goalkeepers, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders and 3 forwards, with a maximum of three players from any one club during the league phase. The budget is EUR 100m, rising to EUR 105m once the league phase ends. You get two free transfers each matchday, and each extra transfer costs 4 points.
Because a matchday is split across Tuesday and Wednesday, you can make substitutions and switch your captain after the first day's games have finished. That mid-matchday captain switch is the single biggest edge available in the game, and it is worth planning around: our player picks page ranks Wednesday captain options by predicted points once Tuesday is done.

Frequently asked questions
When is the UCL Fantasy 2026/27 deadline?
The Matchday 1 deadline is Tuesday 8 September 2026. Transfers are unlimited until then, so you can keep refining your squad against our predicted points right up to kick-off. The league phase then runs to Matchday 8 on Wednesday 27 January 2027.
How do I pick the best UCL Fantasy team?
Rank every player by predicted points rather than reputation, anchor the squad with one or two premium attackers from clubs with the softest league-phase draw, and fill the rest with ball-recovery midfielders and defenders from sides with high clean-sheet probability. Our optimal team calculator does the budget maths for you and returns the highest-scoring legal squad inside EUR 100m.
Who should I captain in UCL Fantasy?
Captain the player with the highest predicted points for the matchday, and remember you can switch the armband between the Tuesday and Wednesday games. Captaining a Tuesday player and moving the armband only if he blanks is a low-risk way to bank the double.
How many free transfers do you get in UCL Fantasy?
Two free transfers every matchday during the league phase, with each additional transfer costing 4 points. Before the Matchday 1 deadline transfers are unlimited.
Why are ball recoveries so important in UCL Fantasy?
Every three balls recovered is worth a point, which is a scoring route that does not exist in FPL. Defensive midfielders and full-backs who make 9-12 recoveries a match earn 3-4 points before any attacking return, which makes cheap high-volume defenders some of the best value in the game.
What is the UCL Fantasy budget?
EUR 100m during the league phase, rising to EUR 105m afterwards. You can hold a maximum of three players from any single club while the league phase is running.
