FPL GW24

I made a mistake

We made it to GW23 before I made my first mistake (in my opinion) this season. It was around the same time last season, where I decided to go early with transfers before the announcement of double gameweeks late on a Friday with a Friday deadline.

This time, it was also news close to deadline, that Haaland and Foden were benched in their fixture against Wolves.

I was not prepared well enough, which is something I have to better going forward. I didn't believe it would be both of them, so I hadn't prepared that scenario.

I have 2 decisions to make:

On the Senesi transfer, Senesi performed way better than Andersen in expected points, so outcome was unlucky. What I was not aware of was all the transfer rumours around Senesi. Mostly around summer, and they're still ongoing, but had I known, I would've probably bought Andersen for safety. I'm a happy Senesi owner (and will probably also be a happy Andersen owner next GW)

Looking ahead

We've been waiting for GW24 for a while as fixtures turn for many teams, Chelsea, United, Bournemouth most notably, who have good FPL assets. Also, we now know that either Arsenal & Wolves or Chelsea & Everton till double in GW26 - most likely Arsenal & Wolves, as Arsenal are heavy favorites to reach the EFL Cup final.

I've been waiting to see the signs from Palmer, but there has been nothing. I'll have to avoid him.

Enzo is great if you don't own him, but other than that no Chelsea assets are reliable enough. Maybe Chalobah.

Getting Senesi last week took me to 3 BOU assets, as Tavernier is still on my bench.

Mbeumo is definitely a good buy here. So is Anderson.

Arsenal are now back to a full squad, which makes them harder to predict, and City are full and well back to "we know nothing", so I'd use the fixture swing for the worse to get rid of the City assets.

What is important right now is that we will soon have more certainty about the future. Who will double GW26. What happens in the final days of the transfer window. The puzzle will be easier to put together, so try and keep it simple with transfers, having them later will be beneficial for sure, so spending them now must be very clear moves.

I would advise to prepare for a worst case, meaning you need to add up to 6 Chelsea and Everton players in GW26. I own 2 currently, so I should be able to have 4 FTs in GW26 to maximize the doubles if needed.

One thing to look out for is whether to use some of the chips before the GW31 blank, which is currently the point where the meta will shift with WC32 or other strategies to plan for a larger DGW33.

I think Triple Captain should be considered in GW26 if Arsenal double, and I may go down that way.

I have been considering a bench boost this GW (24), as I could set up a good bench, but I've decided that GW28 will be the time I decide. I will have a great bench by then and I will be more certain of how the future blanks and doubles could look.

Staying on a decent amount of transfers will allow me more flexibility with strategy later.

Team selection

I had 3 FTs but I made a move after the Arsenal - United game, as I transferred Foden to Mbeumo. Planned priority move.

Tavernier to Anderson and bench boost has been considered, but I chose not to do it. We still don't have news on Tavernier, but his price allows him to stay on the bench, and when he returns I want him back. As long as he is back before GW31, I'm happy.

Kroupi or Tarkowski 1st bench is close, but a few things made me prefer Kroupi - BOU good offensively away from home, Wolves worse defensively at home compared to away, and Brighton don't allow much DEFCON for CBs.

Bruno Fernandes captains the team, no doubt.

Good luck everyone!
