Fantasy Voetball Gameweek 13: best buys and captains
Fantasy Voetball Gameweek 13 preview: best buys, captain picks and differentials
Fantasy Voetball Gameweek 13 is the first Eredivisie round after the international break, and the deadline is not until 21 November. That gives you two weeks to plan, and the plan should be built on the next three gameweeks rather than on this one alone. Feyenoord have the best three-gameweek run in the game, Twente have the best clean-sheet chance of the round at home to Willem II, and a handful of popular picks from AZ, Ajax and Go Ahead Eagles are heading into weaker stretches. Below: the programs worth owning, the best buys per position, the captain plan for Gameweeks 13 to 15, the differentials and who to sell.
All projections come from our model and update as lineups and odds move, so check the Fantasy Voetball player picks again before the deadline. Last week's thinking is in the Fantasy Voetball Gameweek 12 preview.
Gameweek 13 to 15 programs: whose next three gameweeks are worth owning
Feyenoord are the team to build around. Their program reads [H]EXC → [H]AJX → [A]WII, worth 7.37 expected goals and 1.05 expected clean sheets over three games, both the best numbers in the league. Excelsior at home (79% win probability, 2.97 expected goals) is the best attacking fixture of Gameweek 13 and Willem II away in Gameweek 15 is not far behind. The home game against Ajax in Gameweek 14 is the one to plan around, not to avoid: Feyenoord still project as the stronger side.
PSV ([A]NEC → [H]GAE → [A]AZ) are second on attack with 6.91 expected goals, but only 0.72 expected clean sheets, so their attackers are a better buy than their defence. Ajax ([H]HAA → [A]FEY → [H]UTR) have a big opener against ADO Den Haag and a tough trip in the middle. Twente ([H]WII → [A]NEC → [A]GAE) have the highest clean-sheet chance of the round at 43%, then two away games that are fine rather than great.
Further down, Telstar ([H]ZWO → [A]EXC → [H]GRO) and Heerenveen ([A]GRO → [A]SIT → [H]CAM) are the mid-table runs that matter. Telstar have three winnable games in a row, and Heerenveen's program gets easier every week. At the bottom, Willem II ([A]TWE → [A]GRO → [H]FEY) have the worst run in the game at 2.91 expected goals and 0.29 expected clean sheets, and PEC Zwolle and Excelsior are not much better. All 18 clubs play in each of Gameweeks 13, 14 and 15.

Kick-off times for every fixture are on the Fantasy Voetball schedule, and the bookmaker numbers behind the win and clean-sheet columns are on the market probabilities page. If you want the method behind ranking a run of fixtures, our fixture difficulty guide explains it.
Best goalkeepers for Gameweek 13
Ronald Koeman (4.8m, TEL) is still the best goalkeeper in the game over three gameweeks: 4.6 → 4.0 → 3.7, 12.3 points in total, behind a Telstar program of [H]ZWO → [A]EXC → [H]GRO. At 46.4% ownership he protects your rank more than he wins it, but no cheaper keeper beats him, so there is no reason to move off him.
Tjark Ernst (5.4m, FEY) is the differential keeper. Feyenoord's [H]EXC → [H]AJX → [A]WII carries 1.05 expected clean sheets, the most of any team, and he projects 4.1 → 3.4 → 3.9 for 11.4 points. Only 3.3% of managers own him. Paired with a Feyenoord defender, he gives you two players who both score from the same clean sheet. Marc-Andre ter Stegen (5.6m, AJX), on [H]HAA → [A]FEY → [H]UTR, is close at 11.8 points (4.4 → 3.1 → 4.3). The trip to Feyenoord is the dip, and the two home games on either side make up for it.
Joel Drommel (4.8m, TWE) projects 4.0 this gameweek thanks to Twente's 43% clean-sheet chance against Willem II, but only 2.9 in each of the next two. That makes him a one-week pick, not a hold.
Best defenders for Gameweek 13
Abdelnor Soualhia (4.5m, TEL) is the standout defender in Fantasy Voetball right now, and the best value in the game. His 6.4 points this gameweek is the highest projection of any defender, and his program, [H]ZWO → [A]EXC → [H]GRO, keeps him at 6.4 → 4.8 → 5.6 for 16.8 points. That beats every defender in the league, including ones costing 2.6m more. The model gives him 0.32 expected goals against Zwolle, which is high for a centre-back, plus a large share of defensive actions. Only 2.8% of managers own him, so he is a high-floor differential at a budget price. Telstar team-mate Marvin Peersman (4.9m, TEL) is the cheaper second option on the same run, at 4.0 → 3.0 → 3.6.
Givairo Read (7.1m, FEY) is the premium defender. He projects 5.9 → 4.5 → 5.2, 15.6 points across Feyenoord's [H]EXC → [H]AJX → [A]WII, with a clean-sheet chance and attacking returns on top. He is owned by 30.6%. If you want Feyenoord's defence without paying for Read, Tsuyoshi Watanabe (6.0m, FEY) projects 5.1 → 3.5 → 4.3 (12.9) at 2.9% ownership. Mika Mármol (5.7m, FEY) is a similar option at 4.7 → 3.5 → 4.4 (12.6).
For PSV, Mauro Junior (7.0m, PSV) and Sergino Dest (7.2m, PSV) are the rare case where Gameweek 14 matters more than Gameweek 13. On [A]NEC → [H]GAE → [A]AZ, Mauro Junior goes 4.1 → 4.9 → 3.3 and Dest goes 3.8 → 4.8 → 3.4. Both are fine holds, but neither is a priority buy this week.
This is where the gameweek ranking and the three-gameweek ranking disagree. Bart van Rooij (6.5m, TWE) projects 4.6 in Gameweek 13 against Willem II, but drops to 3.2 and 3.3 on the two away trips that follow ([A]NEC → [A]GAE). Elijah Dijkstra (5.1m, AZ) projects only 3.7 this week, but [A]SPA → [A]ZWO → [H]PSV takes him to 11.1 over three gameweeks, the same total as van Rooij, and he costs 1.4m less. If you are buying a defender to keep, buy Dijkstra. Van Rooij is the pick only if you plan to sell again after Twente's home game.
For a cheaper long hold, Vasilios Zagaritis (5.5m, HEE) rises 3.2 → 3.8 → 3.9 as Heerenveen's run ([A]GRO → [A]SIT → [H]CAM) gets easier, at 5.6% ownership.
Best midfielders for Gameweek 13
Anis Hadj Moussa (11.2m, FEY) is the best player in the game over the next three gameweeks: 7.3 → 5.7 → 6.1, 19.1 points on [H]EXC → [H]AJX → [A]WII, with 0.53 expected goals and 0.27 expected assists against Excelsior. He is the top captain option in both Gameweek 13 and Gameweek 15. Only 8.3% own him, which makes him the one premium move that can really separate you from other managers. The reason to buy him now rather than later is that his best fixture is this one.
Gjivai Zechiel (8.8m, FEY) is already in 55.8% of teams, and he should stay there: 5.8 → 4.7 → 5.0 (15.5) on the same Feyenoord run. Owning him keeps you level with the field. The midfielders below him are where you can gain ground.
Jacob Trenskow (8.7m, HEE) is the other case where the next three gameweeks beat this one. He projects 4.9 in Gameweek 13, below Sondre Ørjasæter, but rises to 5.1 and then 5.7 as Heerenveen move from [A]GRO → [A]SIT → [H]CAM. His 15.7 total is the third-best of any midfielder. Sondre Ørjasæter (6.9m, TWE) has the bigger opener at 5.8 against Willem II, then 4.6 and 4.6 ([A]NEC → [A]GAE), for 15.0. If you are keeping the player beyond this run, take Trenskow. If the money matters more, Ørjasæter costs 1.8m less for almost the same three-gameweek total.
Guus Til (12.0m, PSV) is the most expensive player in the pool and earns it in Gameweek 14: 5.7 → 6.6 → 4.4 (16.7) on [A]NEC → [H]GAE → [A]AZ. His 6.6 against Go Ahead Eagles is the top projection in the game for that gameweek. He is the premium to own if you want a different captain each week.
Two value midfielders stand out. Daouda Weidmann (5.3m, TWE) projects 4.7 → 3.9 → 3.7 (12.3) on Twente's run, almost 0.9 points per million this gameweek. Rafik el Arguioui (4.8m, CAM) is the cheapest useful midfielder: 4.2 → 5.1 → 3.6 (12.9) on Cambuur's [A]UTR → [H]SPA → [A]HEE, and his Gameweek 14 home game against Sparta is the reason to have him.
Best forwards for Gameweek 13
Wout Weghorst (8.4m, TWE) is the best forward to buy, and this is the gameweek to do it. He is Twente's penalty taker, projects 0.74 expected goals against Willem II, and goes 6.8 → 5.0 → 5.1 for 16.9 points on [H]WII → [A]NEC → [A]GAE. That is the best three-gameweek total of any forward. He is owned by 19.0%, so he is not a template pick yet.
Thom van Bergen (8.1m, GRO), Groningen's penalty taker, is the steadiest hold up front: 5.0 → 5.4 → 4.6 (15.0) on [H]HEE → [H]WII → [A]TEL, with two home games first. Mexx Meerdink (9.0m, AZ), also on penalties, is similar at 4.9 → 5.4 → 4.4 (14.7) on [A]SPA → [A]ZWO → [H]PSV. Both are popular at 38.4% and 36.9%, and both are worth keeping.
The forward differential is Dylan Vente (6.8m, HEE): 3.9 → 4.0 → 4.4 (12.3) as Heerenveen's run improves, at 5.1% ownership. Milan Zonneveld (6.6m, SPA) follows the same pattern, rising to 4.7 in Gameweek 15 against NEC on [H]AZ → [A]CAM → [H]NEC.

Captain picks for Gameweek 13
Your captain scores double in Fantasy Voetball, so this decision is worth twice as much as any transfer.
- Anis Hadj Moussa (11.2m, FEY): 7.3, the highest projection of the gameweek, at home to Excelsior on [H]EXC → [H]AJX → [A]WII. Feyenoord have the best win probability of the round at 79%.
- Wout Weghorst (8.4m, TWE): 6.8, on penalties, against the league's weakest program on [H]WII → [A]NEC → [A]GAE. He is the pick if you do not own Hadj Moussa.
- Gjivai Zechiel (8.8m, FEY): 5.8, on the same [H]EXC → [H]AJX → [A]WII run. This is the safe option, since more than half the field owns him, but the model has him 1.5 points behind Hadj Moussa from the same fixture.
Abdelnor Soualhia's 6.4 is technically the third-highest projection, but a defender's points rely heavily on a clean sheet, so his range of outcomes is narrower than Weghorst's.
Plan the next two gameweeks as well. In Gameweek 14 the top projection is Guus Til at 6.6 against Go Ahead Eagles, and in Gameweek 15 Hadj Moussa is back on top at 6.1 at Willem II. Owning Hadj Moussa covers two of the three captaincies. Our captain guide explains how we weigh ceiling against safety.
Who to sell before Gameweek 13
Toluwalase Arokodare (8.8m, AJX), owned by 30.4%, is the clearest sell, and the reason to do it now is Weghorst. Den Haag at home ([H]HAA → [A]FEY → [H]UTR) is a decent fixture, and 4.3 is a respectable projection. But the model has him on only around 57 minutes, he drops to 2.5 at Feyenoord, and Weghorst costs 0.4m less while projecting 6.8 in his best gameweek. Wait a week and you miss the gameweek that makes the swap worth it.
Mateo Chavez (5.6m, AZ), owned by 32.2%, and Wouter Goes (5.5m, AZ), owned by 21.5%, are sells now. AZ's run ([A]SPA → [A]ZWO → [H]PSV) is not the problem: 0.78 expected clean sheets is mid-table. The problem is the players. Chavez is projected for around 58 minutes and goes 2.8 → 3.2 → 2.3, and Goes goes 2.5 → 2.9 → 2.0. Dijkstra, in the same defence, projects 11.1 over the same three gameweeks. No fixture in their run is worth waiting for, so swapping now gains from Gameweek 13 onwards.
Søren Tengstedt (7.4m, GAE), owned by 35.2%, is a sell, but you can wait a gameweek. [H]SIT is a good fixture (59% win probability), and his 5.2 is one of the better midfield scores of the round. After that, [A]PSV → [H]TWE drops him to 3.0 and 3.9. Keep him for Sittard and move him on before Gameweek 14, unless you need the transfer now for Hadj Moussa or Weghorst.
Best Suikeroom team for Gameweek 13
If you are considering the Suikeroom chip, this is the highest-projected eleven for Gameweek 13 alone, in a 3-5-2 with no more than three players per club:
- GK: Ronald Koeman (4.8m, TEL), 4.6
- DEF: Abdelnor Soualhia (4.5m, TEL), 6.4 · Givairo Read (7.1m, FEY), 5.9 · Bart van Rooij (6.5m, TWE), 4.6
- MID: Anis Hadj Moussa (11.2m, FEY), 7.3 · Gjivai Zechiel (8.8m, FEY), 5.8 · Sondre Ørjasæter (6.9m, TWE), 5.8 · Guus Til (12.0m, PSV), 5.7 · Mathis Suray (6.9m, GAE), 5.3
- FWD: Wout Weghorst (8.4m, TWE), 6.8 · Thom van Bergen (8.1m, GRO), 5.0
That is 63.2 projected points, or 70.5 with Hadj Moussa as captain. Gameweek 13 has no double fixtures, though, so most managers will get more from saving the chip. The exact solver optimum, with bench and your own constraints, is on the Fantasy Voetball optimal teams page.
