Alexander Isak Injury Report: Possible ACL Injury Against Spurs

Isak has been subbed off due to what seems like a serious injury.

In the same moment he scored the opening goal against Spurs, Isak was tackled by Micky van de Ven.

Look at Isak's left leg and foot. The foot is fixated while the crus (lower leg) is being pushed forward relative to the femur.

This is the exact function of the ACL, which of course makes that a possible injury. The ACL, simplified, is making sure the crus doesn't twist and/or slide forward relative to the femur.

Another picture we can analyse shows the foot fixated with the crus externally rotated relative to the femur. This is also an ACL injury mechanism.

It's not looking good.

From the replay footage I've seen, it's hard to analyse with certainty as it's a chaotic situation. Upon replay, ACL or MCL rupture/damage first came to mind.

I'm not certain, as it's not completely clear, but considering Isak's emotional state, it's not looking good. Players are often the best indicators of injury severity.

If I had to make a prediction I would probably bet on ACL.

I hope it's not serious and I'll be wrong. I wish him a fast recovery.
