FPL Challenge: This Week's Best Team & Captain
FPL Challenge is the Premier League's weekly fantasy game: you pick a brand-new squad every gameweek, and every gameweek comes with its own challenge - the squad size, the budget, how many players you may take from one club, which positions you may pick, or even how points are scored can change from one week to the next.
TheFantasyTool reads this gameweek's challenge rules straight from FPL Challenge, scores every eligible player under them with our FPL predicted points, and solves the highest-scoring legal squad and captain. A club that has already kicked off this gameweek is locked out, exactly as it is in the game.
What the FPL Challenge tool does
There is nothing to import: FPL Challenge resets every week, so the tool starts from the rules. It shows this week's challenge in plain words, the best squad and captain under it, and every player ranked by predicted points for the gameweek.
- This week's challenge - squad size, positions allowed, club limit, budget and any scoring change
- Best team - the highest predicted-points squad that obeys every rule, with the captain
- Player rankings - every eligible player by predicted points, filterable by position
- Locked clubs - teams that have already kicked off this gameweek are taken out of the solve
How FPL Challenge scoring works
Points mirror Fantasy Premier League unless that week's challenge changes them, and your captain scores double. When a challenge does change a scoring value - say goals by defenders are worth more - the tool re-scores every player from the same model's expected goals, assists, clean sheets and saves. A rule the model cannot score is named on the page rather than ignored.
- Appearance: 1 point under 60 minutes, 2 points for 60 or more
- Goals: goalkeeper 10, defender 6, midfielder 5, forward 4 - assists 3
- Clean sheets: 4 for a goalkeeper or defender, 1 for a midfielder
- Defensive contribution: 2 points at 10 for a defender, 12 for a midfielder or forward
- Captain: double points
Deadlines and locked players
You can pick and change your squad during the gameweek, but a player is locked once his club has started its first match of the gameweek - you cannot transfer him in or out, or make him captain. The final deadline is the point where a valid squad can no longer be picked from the clubs still to play.
Frequently asked questions
What is FPL Challenge?
FPL Challenge is the official Premier League fantasy game at fplchallenge.premierleague.com where you pick a new team every gameweek, and each gameweek has its own challenge - for example a different budget or squad size, or certain players scoring double points.
Is FPL Challenge scoring the same as Fantasy Premier League?
Yes, unless that gameweek's challenge changes a scoring rule. Your captain scores double. When a challenge changes a scoring value, our tool re-scores every player from the same model's expected stats.
Why is a player missing from the best team?
Either his club has already kicked off this gameweek, so he is locked in FPL Challenge too, or this week's challenge rules him out - a position that cannot be picked, the limit on players from one club, or the budget.
Is the FPL Challenge tool free?
This week's rules, the player list, fixtures and availability are free. The predicted points, the player ranking and the best team are included in Full Access - which has a 7-day free trial; a card is required and you can cancel any time before the trial ends - and in the FPL plan.
