Fantasy Voetball 2026/2027 Round 4 Preview
Fantasy Voetbal Round 4 preview: best buys, captain picks and differentials
Round 4 of Fantasy Voetbal has one fixture that dwarfs everything else on the board: Feyenoord host newly promoted ADO Den Haag as 82% favourites, with 3.05 projected goals. Everyone can see that. The round is not won by spotting it — it is won in the six or seven squad slots after the obvious names, and by deciding now whether to start buying into the two double rounds that follow. Twente and Telstar both play twice in Round 5, and Ajax and Willem II both play twice in Round 6.
Below are the buys, the captain order, the low-ownership picks worth a punt, and the high-ownership players whose projections have quietly fallen off a cliff. Every number comes from our model's current projections — you can cross-check any of them on the Fantasy Voetbal player picks page.
Round 4 fixtures: where the points are
Nine matches, no blanks. These are the six teams the model likes most, one row per team. Full list on the Fantasy Voetbal schedule, and the underlying odds on the market probabilities page.
| Team | Fixture | Win % | Projected goals | Clean sheet % |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Feyenoord | [H]ADO Den Haag | 82% | 3.05 | 48% |
| AZ Alkmaar | [H]Go Ahead Eagles | 70% | 2.52 | 37% |
| FC Groningen | [H]Fortuna Sittard | 65% | 2.35 | 34% |
| PSV Eindhoven | [A]FC Utrecht | 58% | 2.25 | 28% |
| Ajax | [A]Telstar | 57% | 2.19 | 28% |
| NEC Nijmegen | [A]PEC Zwolle | 57% | 2.19 | 27% |
Feyenoord are the round's anchor. They were the meanest defence in the Eredivisie last season — 1.15 expected goals conceded per game and 10 clean sheets in 34 — and ADO Den Haag arrive promoted with no top-flight form to lean on. Groningen are the quieter target: Fortuna Sittard managed just 1.28 expected goals per game last season and kept only 3 clean sheets all year, and Groningen's own attack ran at 1.77.
Avoid ADO Den Haag (6% to win at Feyenoord), Go Ahead Eagles (12%), Fortuna Sittard (15%) and Utrecht (20% at home to PSV). Utrecht assets are the trap here — a home game that reads well on a fixture list but prices out badly.
One hard constraint before you plan: Fantasy Voetbal allows a maximum of 3 players from any one club. Feyenoord have five genuinely strong picks this round, so a Feyenoord block means choosing three — not stacking four.
Goalkeepers: Feyenoord's floor, or a 4.0m enabler
Timon Ernst (5.5m, FEY) is the best goalkeeper play at 4.2 xP, on the back of a 48% clean sheet projection behind the league's best defence. If you want the clean sheet without the Feyenoord club slot, Jorn De Busser (5.0m, AZ) gives you 4.0 xP at 37%.
The hidden gem here is Kars de Leeuw (4.0m, WII) — 3.6 xP at the cheapest price in the position, a points-per-million of 0.90 that beats every premium keeper, and Willem II play twice in Round 6, where he jumps to 5.6 xP. If you need to free up money for a midfield premium, this is the enabler.
Worth flagging for later: Marc-André ter Stegen (5.5m, AJX) is 4.0 xP now but 8.5 xP in Round 6's double. More on that below.
Defenders: Feyenoord's cheap pair, and a 5.0m differential
Defence is where Round 4 is decided, because the two best defensive fixtures are also attached to cheap players.
- Takumi Watanabe (6.0m, FEY) — 5.3 xP, the highest of any defender in the round, 77 projected minutes. Points-per-million of 0.88.
- Marc Mármol (5.5m, FEY) — 5.0 xP off 87 projected minutes, and the best PPM of any defender at 0.91. If you only take one Feyenoord defender, the extra 0.5m for Watanabe buys the higher ceiling; Mármol buys the minutes.
- Maxim Chavez (5.1m, AZ) — 4.6 xP, PPM 0.90, and the correlated pick alongside De Busser if you want to double up on the same AZ clean sheet.
- Marvin Rente (5.4m, GRO) — 4.4 xP on a full 90 projected minutes with a starter factor of 1.00. No rotation risk at all.
The budget differential: Wessel Prins (5.0m, GRO). 4.2 xP, 81 projected minutes, starter factor 1.00 — and owned by 0.6% of the game. He is on the same clean sheet as Rente for 0.4m less. At this price he is a one-or-two-round buy you can move on from cheaply once Groningen's run turns.
Midfield: the standout captain, and the best-value pick in the game
Anis Hadj Moussa (11.0m, FEY) — 7.1 xP, the highest projection of any player in Round 4, on 84 projected minutes in the round's best fixture. Last season he produced 14 goals and 7 assists from 3,353 minutes, at 0.59 expected goal involvements per 90. And he is owned by just 5.8%. A player who is simultaneously the top projected scorer in the round and a genuine differential is rare; this is the pick of the week.
Tjaronn Chery (8.0m, NEC) is the best multi-round hold at the price. 6.4 xP now, and his projection never drops below 4.1 across the next six rounds (6.4 → 5.0 → 5.7 → 6.6 → 4.1 → 6.2). Decay-weighted score of 20.6, off 0.52 expected goal involvements per 90 last season. If you want one midfielder you do not have to think about again, it is him.
Daan Rots (7.5m, TWE) is the forward-looking buy. 5.6 xP in Round 4 is already fine, but Twente play twice in Round 5 and his projection there is 11.0 xP — the single highest one-round number in our data. His decay-weighted score of 24.6 is the best of any player in the game. Buying him now costs you nothing and gets you ahead of the double.
Guus Til (12.0m, PSV) at 5.5 xP is the premium alternative if you would rather own the PSV attack than the Feyenoord one; 16 goals and 7 assists last season backs the price.
The value pick of the round: Dave van der Werff (6.0m, GRO). 5.4 xP — more than Til, for half the money — on a full 90 projected minutes with a starter factor of 1.00. That is a points-per-million of 0.90, the best of any outfield player with 60+ projected minutes. Ownership: 1.7%. His teammate Jelle Schreuders (6.0m, GRO) is the same idea at 4.5 xP and 1.7% owned.
Two more low-ownership names: Ilias Yegoian (6.1m, EXC) at 4.5 xP and 5.9% owned, and Shunsuke Mito (7.0m, SPA) at 5.2 xP and 2.9% owned. Mito's raw projection is excellent, but be clear-eyed about why — Sparta are only 36% to win at Excelsior, so his number comes from his role rather than his fixture. He is a punt on volume, not a fixture play.
Forwards: the model's second-favourite, and the template
Thom van Bergen (7.6m, GRO) — 6.8 xP, second-highest in the round, and the only premium attacker projected for a full 90 minutes at a starter factor of 1.00. He generated 17.48 expected goals last season at 0.62 expected goal involvements per 90. At 7.6m his points-per-million of 0.90 is better than every forward above him in price. The strongest buy-and-hold forward in the game right now.
Ayase Ueda (12.0m, FEY) is the ceiling play at 6.4 xP. He is Feyenoord's penalty taker and scored 26 goals from 21.03 expected goals last season, at 0.65 expected goal involvements per 90 — the best rate of any forward in this round. The 12.0m price and the club cap are the only arguments against him.
Ricardo Pepi (11.5m, PSV) at 5.2 xP is on penalties too, and Mika Meerdink (9.1m, AZ) at 5.4 xP remains the template — owned by 46.7%, the most-held player in the game. Meerdink is a fine keep for Round 4, but note his 73 projected minutes and 0.81 starter factor: he is not the guaranteed starter his ownership implies, and his Round 8 projection drops to 2.8.
Value forwards: Brynjolfur Willumsson (6.6m, GRO) at 5.0 xP with a 1.00 starter factor, and Daan Vente (7.0m, HEE) at 4.7 xP off 0.52 expected goal involvements per 90 last season.
Captain picks for Round 4
The captain armband doubles a player's score, so this is the single biggest decision of your round.
- Anis Hadj Moussa (11.0m, FEY) — 7.1 xP. Highest projection in the round, 84 projected minutes, in a fixture where his team is 82% to win and projected for 3.05 goals. The clear number one.
- Thom van Bergen (7.6m, GRO) — 6.8 xP. The safe alternative. A full 90 minutes and a 1.00 starter factor means the one risk Moussa carries — an early substitution — does not apply here.
- Tjaronn Chery (8.0m, NEC) and Ayase Ueda (12.0m, FEY) — both 6.4 xP. Ueda gets the nod on ceiling because of penalties; Chery on floor.
Captaincy is a plan rather than a one-week choice. If you are buying a premium now, note that Rots captains enormously well in Round 5 (11.0 xP) and Gloukh in Round 6 (10.3 xP) — owning one of them already solves the next two armbands.
Who to sell before Round 4
These are widely held players whose projections no longer justify the slot. Check any of them against the Fantasy Voetbal predicted lineups before you act.
- Shaqueel van Persie (6.0m, FEY) — 21.2% owned. The model projects him 3 minutes in Round 4, and 0.6–0.7 xP in every one of the next six rounds. This is the most-held dead slot in the game. Sell.
- Gijs Read (6.5m, FEY) — 13.2% owned. Zero projected minutes in Round 4 and Round 5. He returns to 3.4 xP in Round 6, so this is a two-round hole in your team at best.
- Jorthy Brandt (9.5m, AJX) — 18.5% owned. 1.8 xP off 28 projected minutes and a 0.23 starter factor. 9.5m for a rotation option is the worst value in the game, and even Ajax's Round 6 double only lifts him to 4.7.
- Gjivai Zechiel (8.2m, FEY) — 32.0% owned. The subtle one. His 5.4 xP this round is good, but his trajectory falls off hard: 5.4 → 3.2 → 3.5 → 2.8 → 2.4 → 2.4, for a decay-weighted score of 13.1 against Chery's 20.6 at a similar price. Take the Round 4 points if you own him, then move him on.
- Bas Linssen (8.0m, NEC) — 19.9% owned. 51 projected minutes, 0.64 starter factor, 3.5 xP at 8.0m — a points-per-million of 0.44.
- Utrecht assets — Anthony Zagre (5.0m, 15.2%) at 2.1 xP and Vasilis Barkas (5.0m, 12.1%) at 2.8 xP both face PSV with an 11% clean sheet projection.
Best Suikeroom team for Round 4
Suikeroom gives you unlimited transfers for one round with no budget limit, which makes it the most powerful chip in Fantasy Voetbal. If you are playing it in Round 4, this is the highest-projecting legal XI, respecting the 3-per-club cap:
| Position | Player | Club | Price | xP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GK | Marc-André ter Stegen | AJX | 5.5m | 4.0 |
| DEF | Takumi Watanabe | FEY | 6.0m | 5.3 |
| DEF | Maxim Chavez | AZ | 5.1m | 4.6 |
| DEF | Marvin Rente | GRO | 5.4m | 4.4 |
| MID | Anis Hadj Moussa (C) | FEY | 11.0m | 7.1 |
| MID | Tjaronn Chery | NEC | 8.0m | 6.4 |
| MID | Daan Rots | TWE | 7.5m | 5.6 |
| MID | Guus Til | PSV | 12.0m | 5.5 |
| MID | Dave van der Werff | GRO | 6.0m | 5.4 |
| FWD | Thom van Bergen | GRO | 7.6m | 6.8 |
| FWD | Ayase Ueda | FEY | 12.0m | 6.4 |
Formation 3-5-2, total 61.5 xP, or 68.6 xP with Moussa captained. Notional cost is 86.1m, which is the point: with only 14.2m left for four bench places and the cheapest legal bench costing 16.5m, this XI is not buildable inside the normal 100.3m budget. Suikeroom's no-budget rule is exactly what unlocks it.
Not chipping this round? The same logic still applies at a smaller scale, and the optimal teams for Fantasy Voetbal page solves this live against the current projections — that is always the authoritative version. Our guide to chip and draft strategy covers when to hold a chip rather than spend it.
Looking ahead: two double rounds are coming
This is the planning point that should shape your Round 4 transfer.
Round 5 — Twente and Telstar play twice. Twente's projections explode: Rots 11.0, Bart van Rooij 8.3, Sem Ørjasæter 7.9, Wout Weghorst 7.6, Lars Unnerstall 7.1. For Telstar, Pepijn Brouwer hits 8.9 and Ruben Koeman 8.0. Rots is the buy to make now, because his Round 4 fixture is already playable.
Round 6 — Ajax and Willem II play twice. Oscar Gloukh goes to 10.3 xP, Steven Berghuis 8.8, ter Stegen 8.5, Kasper Dolberg 8.3. Gloukh (9.4m, 10.4% owned) is 5.1 xP in Round 4 already, so he is a reasonable buy now — just note his 57 projected minutes and 0.84 starter factor. Berghuis at 7.9m and 2.4% ownership is the cheaper route into the same double.

FAQ
Who should I captain in Fantasy Voetbal Round 4?
Anis Hadj Moussa (11.0m, Feyenoord) is the model's top captain pick at 7.1 xP — the highest projection of any player in the round. Feyenoord host promoted ADO Den Haag as 82% favourites with 3.05 projected goals, and Moussa is projected for 84 minutes. Thom van Bergen (7.6m, Groningen) at 6.8 xP is the safer alternative because he is projected for a full 90 minutes at a 1.00 starter factor.
Which budget defenders are best for Round 4?
Marc Mármol (5.5m, Feyenoord) has the best points-per-million of any defender at 0.91, with 5.0 xP off 87 projected minutes. The cheapest strong option is Wessel Prins (5.0m, Groningen) at 4.2 xP with a 1.00 starter factor and only 0.6% ownership. Maxim Chavez (5.1m, AZ) at 4.6 xP is the pick if you want to pair a defender with an AZ goalkeeper on the same clean sheet.
Who are the best differentials in Fantasy Voetbal Round 4?
Anis Hadj Moussa is the standout — the round's highest projection at just 5.8% ownership. Below him, Dave van der Werff (6.0m, Groningen) is 5.4 xP at 1.7% owned, Takumi Watanabe (6.0m, Feyenoord) is 5.3 xP at 3.2%, and Wessel Prins (5.0m, Groningen) is 4.2 xP at 0.6%. Steven Berghuis (7.9m, Ajax) at 2.4% owned is the best low-ownership route into Ajax's Round 6 double.
Should I use the Suikeroom chip in Round 4?
Probably not. Suikeroom removes the budget cap for one round, and its value is highest in a round where the best XI is far out of budget reach. The optimal Round 4 XI projects 61.5 xP and would cost 86.1m, which is already close to affordable. Round 5 and Round 6 both contain double rounds — two clubs playing twice — where a no-budget XI is worth considerably more.
Who should I sell before Round 4?
Shaqueel van Persie (6.0m, Feyenoord) is the priority sale at 21.2% ownership: the model projects him just 3 minutes in Round 4 and under 1 xP in each of the next six rounds. Gijs Read (6.5m, Feyenoord) has zero projected minutes for two rounds, and Jorthy Brandt (9.5m, Ajax) is 1.8 xP off a 0.23 starter factor. Gjivai Zechiel (8.2m, Feyenoord, 32.0% owned) is worth keeping for Round 4 only — his projection falls to 2.4 xP by Round 8.
