FPL GW32

The season is coming to an end

This is always a special time - the last wildcard to try and maximize the value of the rest of the season. With good planning, most of the decisions come to you by themselves, and often it can be auto pilot from here. This year may not be the case, but we won't know until much later.

This gameweek is about chip strategies, which are all extremely team specific. More than ever, I think - especially when you consider everyone has to make the decision at the same time.

I'll keep it fairly brief as we covered a lot on stream yesterday (link: https://www.youtube.com/live/q7s_SX_eoCM), but talk of the town is whether you wildcard now in GW32 or use your free hit in GW33, mainly because we are loaded on Arsenal players that are not doubling in GW33 as we initially expected.

Many players used the TC chip in GW26, and if you still have it, the most optimal time is likely GW36. You could shout Bruno this GW against Leeds, but I'd save it for 36, as there will be an option with two fixtures, that looks good.

The other chips are likely best played as:

WC32, BB33, FH34

or

FH33, WC35, BB36

If you are in doubt between the two, I think the WC32 strategy is probably the way to go. Book the gains now, the future is uncertain. You can hear me elaborate on the stream from yesterday.

Remember, there are a lot of different variations for different team situations, so if you plan a different strategy, it might just as well be the best for your individual team.

The WC32 is very dependent on the number of FTs in your bank and your rank goals. You can approach it with caution and keep as many FTs as possible, having a bit of a bad team in GW32 but with 14 or even 15 doublers in GW33 on the bench boost, or you can throw your FTs in for single GW punts now on the likes of Gabriel, Gordon, Cunha, Bowen, Thiago or the likes. I'll do the latter, which takes me to the team selection.

Team selection - wildcard edition

My wildcard draft is shown below. It is fairly template with a few spicy choices.

Goalkeepers are simple - Verbruggen becomes almost a must as he is the only doubling GK with a good fixture in GW32, and Darlow rotates well with him afterwards on top of Leeds fixtures being good from a defensive standpoint in my opinion.

Tripling up on Brighton defense is not because I love the picks themselves, but Brighton has been really good defensively recently (2nd best for xGc last 10 GWs), I like the covariance, I don't like the midfield options from Brighton or Welbeck, and lastly it enables Alex Scott.

...Who is the spicy midfield pick. He has such great underlying stats (DEFCON and xG/xA) and Lewis Cook had a setback injury-wise which creates more certainty around Scott's minutes. He is basically Elliott Anderson but from Bournemouth (and better!), and I like the low ownership. The rest of the midfield picks itself.

As for FWDs I've chosen Thiago over DCL, as he has a better fixture this GW and he provides the option of either just rolling him into the bench boost next GW or sell him to DCL, if I feel more certain about playing time for DCL than I do currently.

Most notably, I only have 2 pick from Manchester City. I may buy another one in GW33... but I also may not. Let's see how the title race evolves. Stay tuned for this.

Bruno captains the side.

Good luck everyone!
